Korpz in London

After the whole Cyprus mission I flew to London and caught up with an old friend, Korpz from the KMS crew. We went painting one day and chatted about everything graffiti…

When did you move to London from South Africa and why?

Moved to London about 2 years ago to be with my girlfriend, to make more money so that I can paint, and to explore more of the world and expand my general knowledge about random things.

How is the graf scene in London compared to S.A.?

The graffiti scene on this side is way more established; even the general public are desensitized to mass destruction. Good art is appreciated (more than I am used to) and some artists get more recognition and sponsorship - that is the legal side of things.
Bombing is big, but there is this weird kind of respect that is rare in South Africa. Bombing is bombing and beefing is beefing but the general view is to put your tag next to another tag and not over it just because you think your shit is the illest and your crew is the best. This is of course my view from what I have seen in my limited time here. You still get the cats who hang onto Cap's every word.

Would you say your painting style/skill has improved since living in London?
It's all about progression, if a piece is not as dope as the previous one, then it is a mission failed. Not sure if moving here has helped so far, because I was separated from my crew. We used to collaborate on ideas, I miss that and it has been hard to maintain on this side. I was overwhelmed to see how high the level is here to say the least.

Are you still bombing as much?
No. Not that I quit, but owning a city in South Africa is not the same as it is this side.
You have to work a hundred times harder because the city is a hundred times bigger, and much more secure. I will be back on that shit soon though.

What crew are you painting with now and what’s happening with KMS?
I am still painting with KMS, as always, but also I represent with HOD (Hands of Doom), from west coast US at the moment even though I am not officially down with the crew yet. I have also been going on a few solo missions lately. Nothing wrong with chilling with yourself like a madman.

Will you ever come back to SA?
Yes. It is where my roots are at - miss the homies!

What do you have to say to all the writers back in S.A.?
I got mad love for the real writers in S.A. Keep it moving.
