The Hip Hop Session was held earlier this year at the Alliance Française in Johannesburg. The session screened a local hip hop documentary called Counting Headz which takes a look at women involved in the hip hop scene and how they’ve fought to gain respect in the industry. After the screening, a live discussion was held with French and South African graffiti artists. Alliance Française assisted in bringing three French writers into South Africa namely; Guillaume Kaercher, Remy Haddad and Jean-Guy Solnon, aka Heng, Hep and Asol, who form the crew Ice Colectivo. Karabo Kgoleng, host of the Hip Hop Session, asked Ice Colectivo and Rasty (a local writer) a couple of questions.
