He sits opposite me, in fully sponsored gear, except for the pants. "I just bought those coz it was getting cold", he laughs.

And your name? "Man, that's of no relevance".

This is Falko, Cape Town's finest, alongside Mak1one and Mantis (both part of his crew). Having been in the game for twenty years now, this guy knows the deal, but you wouldn't think so. Cutting-edge, he's still a realist.  

"I started on the 22nd of December 1988 exactly. I kind of just took the liberty of remembering the date, thinking that one day it might actually mean something. When we started, though, it meant nothing to nobody. It was just us spraying the walls – myself and the guys who were teaching me - Gee, Jammo and TMD." 

Falko remembers Jammo, "Man, he was actually one of the first people in South Africa to make contact with the hip hop guys outside the country – people like Queen Candy, who was then a member of the Zulu Nation in France.  Here, Jammo later became the king."
